Oticon Hearing Aids
The motivation for developing Oticon hearing aids was a search for creative answers to individual hearing difficulties, accomplished in 1904 when the company released Acousticon, the world’s first portable electronic hearing device.
The newly formed American-Danish Oticon Company, established after a partnership was formed with Charles Lehman, became one of the most well-known hearing aid manufacturers and suppliers after the Second World War.
Firsts for Oticon include an in-the-ear (ITE) hearing aid in 1977, and two decades later the first digital hearing aid in 1996, which helped Oticon keep pace with or outpace their competition.
The manufacturer distinguished itself again at the beginning of the 21st century by developing the Brain Hearing concept, upon which Oticon began building hearing aids with streaming and connectivity features in 2007.

Processing Technology by Oticon
The Brain Hearing concept, used by Oticon to design and build hearing aids to support the brain’s ability to create meaning from sound signals and speech, goes beyond simply amplifying the sound signals.
Built upon this concept, Opn processing technology makes it possible for hearing aid wearers to distinguish between a variety of speakers in an environment with background noise, while improving sound quality, enhancing voice clarity, and reinforcing overall instrument performance.
