Phonak Alpina hearing aids, Phonak’s first portable hearing device, introduced in 1950, was the first in a long line of hearing aid industry firsts, like their Visaton Super (glasses with integrated hearing aids), Phonette (the first BTE hearing aid), and the FM audio input system that became the foundation for FM hearing devices in the 1960s and 1970s.
Innovations in the 1990s included hearing aids with analog processors and digital adjustment, the multi-microphone concept, MicroLink (the first tiny FM receiver), and a digital hearing system with FM receiver.
In 2003, using Bluetooth integration technology led to the development of bionic systems like Binaural VoiceStream Technology, and the 2007 development of water-resistant casings led to the design and production of Lyric extended wear hearing aids.

Processing Technology by Phonak
Phonak hearing aids provide refined sound quality by streaming the full sound bandwidth continuously and bidirectionally.
Their processing technology also includes computer-based AI processing that can distinguish between different listening environments and automatically makes changes to preprogrammed settings when the user changes locations.
Phonak’s enhanced digital processing technologies allow hearing aid users to enjoy a more natural, crisper sound clarity by limiting background noise, but also include integrated sound therapy to assist users with tinnitus management.
