Siemens Hearing Aids
Before becoming a pioneer in the hearing aid industry when he produced an amplified telephone receiver in 1877, Werner von Siemens was a manufacturer of telegraphic instruments in the late 1800s. His cutting-edge inventions established the technological foundation for several of today’s hearing aid manufacturers, including the one that uses his name, Siemens.
The company manufactured their first behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aid in 1959, and then their first in-the-ear (ITE) device in 1966. While continuing to produce some of the world’s most innovative hearing aid technology well into the 21st century, Siemens merged with Sivantos in 2015, when the company’s technology was used in the design and production of Signia as well as Siemens brand hearing aids.
Included as part of the Sivantos merger with Widex in 2019, which created the WS Audiology Group, Siemens technology and their original brand name continue to be produced under the umbrella of the world’s largest hearing aid manufacturing group.
