This research, taken on by YouGov, found that many British adults claimed their hearing was good but found they struggled in noisy surroundings like restaurants or pretended to follow conversations they couldn’t hear.

But despite how over a third of people surveyed struggled with their hearing, most of them had never taken any action to alleviate hearing loss challenges. Pretending to hear the conversation or missing points entirely can be exhausting for your brain to try and piece together and embarrassing if you accidentally make a social faux pas without realizing it.

Hearing loss affects us more than we might realize. When was the last time you went out to a live event or a busy restaurant and came back feeling like your ears were ringing? We’ve all been there – ringing ears, or tinnitus, can be a surefire sign of potential hearing loss later down the line.

An interesting note made in the research is that quite often, people don’t know where to start when it comes to their hearing care. Where to go, what to ask for, what to do – that hesitation and uncertainty can prove to stop people in their tracks. That’s where we come in.

Hearing care doesn’t have to be a scary jump into the unknown. Your hearing health journey comes one step at a time, and we’re here to guide you the entire way.

What Happens during a Hearing Assessment?

Just like when you discover you need glasses, your hearing health improvement starts with an examination to see exactly what you need.

Our comprehensive hearing assessments take up to an hour to complete, but they provide you with a clear-cut, concise view of what your current range of hearing is like so that we can take steps together to improve it.

Upon your arrival at our clinic, we’ll welcome you in and get you checked in for your appointment. Our friendly reception staff will take any necessary information upon check-in and make sure your audiologist knows that you’ve arrived so that they can come and fetch you for your hearing assessment.

To get the best results and find out what’s going on in your ears, we’ll start your hearing assessment with a chat about you: your hobbies, your medical history, your family history, and more. By getting to know you as a person, we can narrow down where and how you might’ve acquired your hearing loss – and get to know you as a new member of our community!

After a quick physical examination of your ears, we’ll move on to the hearing test itself. Here, you’ll be seated in a comfortable, soundproofed room and fitted with high-quality headphones to listen to a range of sounds and spoken words, and you’ll be asked to respond as you hear each sound. With this, we’ll get an audiogram of your range of hearing, allowing us to see where your ears struggle to hear.

You’ll get your results on the same day as your assessment, and we’ll go over the next steps together if you need to look into assistive hearing devices or not.
